I was interested in this story due to its science fiction elements, and its atmospheric descriptiveness - "misty evening in November,
to put your feet upon that buckling concrete walk, to
step over grassy seams and make your way, hands in
pockets, through the silences"
Initial sketch of The walker after reading the short story.
To get city environments I could take photos of Wellington city at night and trace?

Artist Model - Sean Buckelew
Sean's work inspired me from it looseness and movement. Specifically his animated short film 'Hopkins & Delaney'. The abstract technique of animating aspect to aspect, with no character ever being static really intrigued me. The whole plot is made up of specific moments jumping time and character, constructing subtly a narrative along the way.

| Before creating his short animated film, he went into every detail about the characters lives and the environments they would be portrayed in. |
The limited colour palette also appeals to me as I feel it does not overtake and push itself onto the viewer.

Artist Model - Charles Huettner
Bright fluorescent colour palette
Stylistically his use of outlines and gradients.
Conceptually his short films are quite loose and atmospheric, this is a quality I would like to portray in my graphic novel.

Initial thoughts on brief
- Artist model I am interested in - Charles Huettner
- Chosen short story - The Pedestrian
- Possible stylistic approaches - atmospheric, aspect to aspect, showing rather then telling, looseness.
- Limited colour palette
- Possible digital presentation with atmospheric gifs?
